When you come to Makaibari, you will be living in a homestay in one of the villages, you will be the guest of one of the local families. You will be made to feel like one of the family member.

The Makaibari HOME STAY programme offers more than just food and lodging.
Homestays offer an excellent opportunity to become involved with family life and to get to know the local people and their culture. Three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are provided daily as required and this offers a chance to taste traditional dishes prepared using local organic produce. The rooms are clean and comfortable and bathroom facilities are also provided.
The home stay profits are shared between the ladies of the community who participate in the programme and go directly to the families – as the company makes no claim to the revenues.
The Home stay programme is managed by "Volunteer in Makaibari", an independent self-help group managed by a group of Makaibari’s youth wing, spearheaded by Nayan Lama.

"Soils constitute the foundation of vegetation and agriculture. Forests need it to grow. We need it for food, feed, fiber, fuel and much more."
